Treatment for TMJ / Jaw Pain Problems
Those who are desperate for jaw pain relief will often turn to TMJ jaw pain treatment surgery, which is invasive and not always effective. Here at The Head and Neck Centers of Excellence, we believe that the best treatment for TMJ pain is our exclusive non-surgical A.S. Remodeling Protocol®. Gentle and drug-free, it could be a solution to your TMJ problems and will start to help eliminate symptoms after just a few visits and consultations with its creator, Andrew Smith, D.C.
What Are the Symptoms of TMJ?
People who suffer from TMJ pain will also often experience TMJ headaches and persistent ear and jaw pain. This pain can sometimes happen randomly, although most TMJ sufferers will experience it regularly. Those with TMJ may also complain about pain when eating and chewing, and others may also experience locking of the joint, making it difficult to open and close their mouth freely. A general tenderness of the jaw may also point to TMJ.
What Causes TMJ and TMD?
There are many different causes of TMJ syndrome. They include:
- physical injury
- arthritis
- grinding or clenching the teeth during sleep
- autoimmune diseases
- dental surgery
- infections
TMJ may also present due to hormonal, environmental and genetic reasons. The only way to identify the underlying cause of TMJ, and therefore the right course of jaw pain treatment, is to obtain the opinion of a head and neck doctor.
